Our little fish

Grant has turned into a fish! We went to the pool twice last week and Grant loves to spend as much time as possible under the water. He is getting to be a pretty good swimmer too - he took 4 private lessons last month and they were worth every penny. He loves to jump in and swim to the side, as well as swim in circles (under water, of course). He tried goggles for a while but they kept slipping off, filling with water, etc. So he swims with his eyes open and doesn't seem to mind. Julia seems to love the water as much as Grant did at her age - I hope that continues! The pool is zero-entry (which means it is a gradual slope into the water), but when I put Julia on the edge, she immediately tries to crawl to deeper waters. Today Blake went to the pool with us so that he could see Grant in action, and I could take a little video. Grant had already been swimming for about 30 minutes when I taped this, so he's a little tired, but you'll get the idea.

I tried and tried to get a picture of Julia but she kept crawling away. This is the best I could get, although I had to steal this shovel from someone :) Don't worry, I left it where I found it.

Minneapolis

Last weekend we went to Minneapolis to finally meet our newest nephew, who is already 3 months old! He's a super sweet baby, I don't even think we heard him cry the whole time we were there. We had a great time with both my sisters and their families. And my Aunt Denise came over Saturday night to join in the craziness of dinner and bedtime so she could see all the kiddos. I didn't take many pics, but here are a few.
Josh and Julia
Drew and JoelWe went to the Como Zoo on Saturday. Grant's favorite part of the day was the swings - he rode them twice all by himself and LOVED it.

Destructor Strikes Again!

We affectionately call Julia "the destructor" because she goes around pounding, slamming, and otherwise destroying things. Of course she does all of this with the sweetest little look on her face so it's hard to get upset with her. Well she did her best job yet this afternoon - disassembled the train table! We aren't quite sure how it happened since I was sitting at the table eating a Rice Krispie treat and Blake was on the couch :) But we heard a loud noise and this is what we found...

Our guess is that she crawled under the table, then stood up since the top is not actually broken. Blake and I started laughing, then Grant came running in. His question: "Sister did not mean to break it, right?" We told him she didn't, so he wasn't mad. I just put the top back on and it's good as new. I guess maybe we should watch her a little more closely? Maybe when the Krispie treats are gone :)

Up!

Today we had our neighbor girl babysit Julia and Blake and I took Grant to the movie Up! The movie was very good, but was a little too much for a 3-year-old. It is rated PG so I think we will stick to G movies for a while longer! About 15 minutes into the movie, it started to get "scary". Grant started crying and screaming - did I mention the movie was 3D? So it appeared stuff was coming at him and it was all just too much. I pulled him onto my lap which is where he stayed the rest of the time :) He says he liked the movie, but we hope we didn't scare him too much. If he has nightmares tonight, we'll know why! He already has an active imagination, so this may not have been the best idea. Oh well, Blake and I enjoyed the movie! I forgot my camera which is too bad because he looked so cute with the 3D glasses on. They were red too which was super exciting since red is Grant's favorite color. Speaking of which, good story. The other day Grant bit his tongue while eating (this happens at least once a week). He licked his lips so then he had blood all around his mouth. Blake told him to stop doing it since he was making his face all red. Grant (who had been crying) ran into the bathroom, looked in the mirror and started laughing. He announced "I love blood! It's red!" He was actually sad when it stopped bleeding. Kids.

The Jeep

I finally got Grant's Jeep charged (it's been dead for a few weeks) and decided Julia is big enough for a ride. So I asked Grant to drive her around in SLOW gear (slow is 2.5 mph vs fast is 5 mph). He wasn't happy about it, but he did it. In addition to messing with the fake cell phone and her sunglasses, Julia kept trying to grab the wheel. And no one better say that is what all women do :)
Julia was concerned about her hair, but Grant was really NOT happy to be driving so sloooooowly. Oh and Julia has a seatbelt on, it's under her skirt. Beltman would be proud.

The jailhouse rocks!

We spent Saturday afternoon with Darci and Todd downtown Omaha. We ended up walking by the jail, which Grant thought was the coolest thing. He wanted to walk by it over and over, and asked to go back the next day. When we got home, he started drawing on his Doodle Pro. He told us it "was a man in jail, and he's sad". Ha! Grant got super mad at me for taking a picture of his drawing. Whatever.Julia right after her nap (which is why there is not a bow in her hair). It's the first time she sat in the grass and actually enjoyed it, maybe because it was so long :)
